Paragliding in France — tandem flights

Paragliding in France

Take a few running steps, feel the wing lift you and find yourself floating above lakes and mountains: paragliding offers one of the purest sensations there is — that of free flight. On a tandem flight you have nothing to do but enjoy the view: the instructor, seated behind you, flies the wing. Take-off is gentle, the flight surprisingly calm, and the silence at altitude makes it unforgettable.

Since 1994, Takamaka has introduced people to paragliding at some of the most renowned flying sites in France, starting with Annecy, considered one of the world capitals of free flight. From a simple first flight to a piloting course, there's a formula for every wish.

How it works

How a tandem flight unfolds

You meet at altitude, on the take-off area. The instructor fits you with a comfortable harness and a helmet, then explains the only thing that matters: run a few metres with them until the wing gently lifts you. Within seconds your feet leave the ground and you're flying.

For 10 to 40 minutes depending on the formula and conditions, you fly over the landscape from an exceptional viewpoint. The instructor can tailor the flight to your taste: smooth to savour the scenery, or more dynamic with a few committed turns for thrill seekers. The landing, usually by the water or in a meadow, is just as smooth.

Who it's for

Open to all, from your very first flight

A tandem paragliding flight requires no prior skill or particular fitness: you just need to be able to run a few steps at take-off. It's an activity to share at any age, from children (subject to a minimum weight) to seniors. It's ideal to gently overcome a fear of heights, mark an occasion (birthday, gift, special request) or simply fulfil a childhood dream.

Paragliding is also a great classic for stag/hen parties, gifts and corporate seminars, where it stands out as a memorable experience, often combined with other outdoor activities on the same day.

Safety

Qualified instructors & controlled weather

All our tandem flights are operated by state-qualified instructors, experienced and intimately familiar with their flying sites. The equipment (wing, harness, reserve) is checked and maintained to strict standards. Weather and aerology are decisive: a flight is only run when conditions are safe and favourable.

That's why it's best to allow some flexibility in your schedule: if conditions aren't right, the flight may be moved later in the day or rescheduled — always in the interest of your safety and the quality of the experience. Dress for altitude (a little cooler than in the valley) and wear closed shoes such as trainers.

Season & groups

When to fly, and with whom

Paragliding can be done all year round, subject to favourable weather. Spring and autumn often bring calm air and beautiful light, summer allows early-morning or late-day flights, and winter offers magical flights over snowy landscapes, sometimes taking off on skis.

Planning a stag/hen party, group outing or seminar? Paragliding is the "wow" activity par excellence. We build tailor-made days: see our seminar & team building page, or discover all our outdoor activities.
